What Causes Pain In Shins On Both Legs?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Jun 2014
Question: The shins on both my legs are quite painful. In addition, the skin color looks bruised, but I have not had any accidents or much physical activity. I am recovering from a traumatic brain injury which happened between 1-2 years ago, and am on medications for this. The shin pain has just started in the last week and the skin bones appear bumpy.

Brief Answer:
Osteoporosis may be a cause

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting
After going through your suffering and prolong history of inactivity because of Traumatic brain injury, the cause may be weakness of bone (osteoporosis) which may be confirmed by Dexa Scan along with blood test for serum calcium, vitamin D,alkaline phosphotase and phosphorus.
For now you may have Ibuprofen as pain killer and take balanced diet rich in calcium (1000mg/day) and vitamin D (1000 i.u. /day) along with vitaminB12, B6.
Having said that cellulitis (Infection of soft tissues) needs to be rule out by physical examination and blood test like total blood count and C - reactive protein (CRP).
I hope this information will be helpful and I shall be glad to answer further.
Take care
