What Causes Pain In Neck And Shoulders With Normal X Ray After Injury?

Question: I had an accident at work while moving a pop machine, I lost control of the machine and it collapsed on me. I was pinned between the 900 pound vendor and the ground. My co worker barely freed me but I was in so much pain, I was told not to try to get up. My co-worker called 911 and an ambulance transported me to the Hospital where the diagnosed me and did x-rays. They said they did not find any broken bones or anything on the x-rays and that I was just seriously bruised and I could go back to full work in 3 days. Well its been 3 days, I hurt so bad yesterday that I scheduled an appointment with my Chiropractor but it just made things worse. I have a lot more pain in my neck shoulders and spine and I don't know where to go or what to do since it is a worker's compensation claim. I have tingling and numbness in my left arm and hand as well.

Brief Answer:
Description below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

Since the bony injuries have been ruled out, a soft tissue injury is likely. You need to avoid massaging the area and take a mild pain killer for relief. Avoid sitting for long hours.
The pain might take over a week to subside.
To get relief from the pain and for quick healing:
1. Do hot fomatation at the site.
2. Apply local anti-inflammatory gel 2-3 times a day.
3. Take anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and local swelling or inflammation.
4. Do not lift weight or try to do exercise that involve painful muscles. Give proper time to heal.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Take care
