Question: 5 days ago I fell on my left side and landed on the corner of a padded cabinet. I have pain between by lower rib and my hip on the left side. The pain has been sharp when pushed, but not hurting when resting. Today, pain increased both with activity, and resting. What could be causing this pain?

Brief Answer:
Injured muscles.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

The most probable reason of your pain is soft tissues injury (muscles and fatty tissue). It is characteristic for such pain to appear or get more intense few days after the injury. Its because of healing process. Sometimes fractured rib can be the case and give pain when breathing.
Left side is where spleen is located. So if the injury was strong enough to rupture the spleen, you should also consider that possibility and have abdominal ultrasound.
Otherwise, you may wait and see. Please try to take Ibuprofen and hot bath. It this helps, the pain is caused by muscles.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
