What Causes Pain From Tip Of Penis?

default
Posted on Fri, 16 Jan 2015
Question: Hi,

I recently was having some pain that felt like it was coming from the tip of my penis when I was walking around. When I went to the bathroom, I noticed that one of my public hairs had gotten stuck inside my urethra. The hair was about halfway in but I was able to pull it out, but it was quite painful. It still stings a bit when I pee, and I was wondering if this could cause any serious problems such as damage to my urethra or a urinary tract infection. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, XXXX.

Brief Answer:
No permanent damage.

Good Day and thank you for being with Healthcare Magic!

No that wouldn't cause any permanent damage to your urethra. The pain on urination is because of the mild swelling / inflammation caused by the hair. It would go away on it's own in a few days. If the pain persists I would suggest getting a urinalysis to check for infection.

Thanks for the clarification. Does this happen to people a lot/is it common? Would infection be rare in this circumstance?

Brief Answer:
Uncommon but not rare. Drink fluids.

Detailed Answer:
I see patients complain once in a while it would be uncommon but not rare.

For urinary tract infection it would depend on your body resistance to sickness and if pathogenic bacteria was able to get inside the urinary system.

My advise is drink plenty of fluids and if the pain perists then get a urinalysis. Hopefully it would go away on its own and the urinalysis wouldn't be necessary.

So at this point if i dont have any burning pain while urinating then i dont have a UTI from it?

Brief Answer:
Yes you didn't get UTI.

Detailed Answer:
Yes that is correct if the pain on urination is gone then it is fairly safe to say that you didn't get urinary tract infection from the hair.
