What Causes Pain Around Throat,chest And Rib Area In A Child?
Question: hello Dr. XXXXXXX my son, age 12, is experiencing pains around his throat area, chest and near his rib areas. nothing physical that I can determined cause this and he has no history of illness or diseases. My question what could be causing this pain?

From the description and distribution of pain , possibility of Gastro-oesophageal reflux needs to be considered especially if he has heart burn and soreness of the throat.
Trial of proton pump inhibitor which suppress acid secretion like Pantoprozole and gastric motility increasing drug like Domperidone are worth considering.
