Brief Answer:
Get it examined and X-rayed!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this continued pain and swelling that you have reported. It is unlikely that you broke a bone by simply hyper-extending the leg. It would be more likely that ligaments and other soft tissues were injured. However, to make sure we are leaving no stone unturned in the face of persistent pain and swelling, I will suggest that you get it examined and an X-ray done. This would provide us with certitude about the exact state of the leg bones and its soft tissue components and guide the management plan.

For now, raising the leg, minimizing putting weight on it alongside some pain medications like Ibuprofen and Tylenol would be helpful. Specific treatment would be guided by the examination and X-ray findings.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
