What Causes Pain And Swelling In Eye?
Question: Hi,
I started to experiance pain in my eye monday this week and since yest my eye has been swollen. I am being told I have a sty by freinds however I am worried it may be something more serious. I have been applying warm compressions and cleaning my eye as well as applying erthromycin opthalmic ointment but the eye only seems to worsen. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Chalazion however normally appears as a distinct lump and blepharitis is inflammation/infection of the eyelid.
Your treatment is appropriate, the warm compresses should be continued at 4 times a day, 15 minutes per episode.
This is the main stay of treatment.
Also continue the topical antibiotic cream
Oral antibiotics are only needed if a person develops systemic signs/symptoms such as fever, loss of appetite, fatigue, feeling generally unwell
