What Causes Occasional Pain Around Belly Button?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Oct 2014
Question: I have occasional pain around my belly button. It is very sudden, sharp and feels like an electric shock taking my breath away for a second. Usually I am moving like raising my arms up. I have asked my gynecologist and family doctor and they both say that's strange and they don't know what it is. It is very painful and scares me when it happens. It only last a second or 2 but what is it?

Brief Answer:
Considerations

Detailed Answer:
thanks for sending your question.

A couple of things could be contributing to the symptoms you are experiencing.

One possibility is that you have a pinched nerve. This could lead to intermittent symptoms like you described.

Another possibility is that you have some type of information within your intestinal tract.this can be evaluated by a gastroenterologist.

If your symptoms persist I think it is worth investigating. You might visit with your primary care doctor and discuss if a referral is needed or if he wishes to get an ultrasound or CAT scan of her abdomen. This might help further identify and characterize the symptoms you are experiencing.

Thank you for sharing your health care concern with us. Please let me know if you have additional specific concerns.

Sincerely,
