What Causes Occasional Localized Stinging Feeling In Left Testicle?

default
Posted on Tue, 29 Mar 2016
Question: Hi there, I am noticing an occasional very localized stinging feeling on my left testicle. It doesn't appear to be a rash, and I would have no reason to believe it is an STD. What could this be, and should I investigate further? The fact that it is very localized is worrying, but it only stings occasionally, not onset by anything I can think of.

Brief Answer:
localized stinging feeling on testicle

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Based on the history that you gave, localized allergic reaction, contact dermatitis and insect bite are possible.

At home you can take the following measures. Apply calamine lotion on the area whenever it itches. Clean the area with diluted povidone solution and remove excess hair. If the skin is soft and easily eroded then triple antibiotic ointments such as Neosporin can be applied. Oral antihistamines like levocetirizine can be taken in addition.

Most likely the symptoms will resolve with the above measures. However, if the problem persists then you should consult your GP to examine the area and advise accordingly.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
