What Causes Numbness On Face?

default
Posted on Thu, 20 Nov 2014
Question: Hi I've recently had an experience where the whole right side of my face went numb and I couldn't hear our of my right ear. Also with a small amount of dizziness. It lasted about 5 mins and then I was fine. This was 4 days ago and I'm still experiencing slight tingling every now and again. Otherwise I feel fine in myself. Is this anything to worry about?

Brief Answer:
Could be symptoms of stroke.

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir

Welcome to healthcaremagic

I understand your situation and read your query very carefully.

These kinds of symptoms are very concerning and you should immediately visit a doctor for the same.New one-sided numbness, tingling, or weakness, whether in the face or in the arms or legs should always be considered as a possible transient ischemic attack (TIA) or stroke.

There are many different causes for a TIA or stroke, some of which can affect young people, so even if you don't feel that you are "old enough" to possibly have a stroke, it is still important for you to be seen right away.

Now it is also possible that you have any one of a number of benign (or at least less concerning) conditions that are causing your symptoms, but before evaluating these (which may require outpatient appointments with a neurologist or head and neck specialist), it is important to exclude the truly worrisome possibilities such as TIA or stroke.

I hope you get the underlying cause for your symptom soon and get treated accordingly. Please visit your nearest doctor as soon as possible.

Hope i have answered your query.Feel free to ask more.I would be happy to help.
