Brief Answer:
Neurological examination/Metabolic investigations and brain imaging.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar, a neurologist, here to answer your query.

Sudden onset numbness and drunken gait(Ataxia) may be ominous signs of something serious inside the brain. So, a physical neurological examination and a brain imaging(MRI Brain) may be warranted in this case.

Further, blood investigations like blood sugar, serum electrolytes, liver function and kidney function tests must be done.Their abnormality may precipitate such acute symptoms.

Hope that helps. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.

Regards
Dr.Ajay Panwar,
MD,DM(Neurology)
