What Causes Numbness In The Nipples After Laser Treatment?

default
Posted on Mon, 24 Oct 2016
Question: I had laser treatment done a few days ago to remove a few hairs on my breasts, around the nipples. I now feel that my nipples are a bit numb and are not as sensitive to the sense of touch. Is it possible that the laser treatment damaged the nerves? If it did, do damaged nerves repair themselves? Or, what can I do to repair the nerve damage?

Brief Answer:
Laser treatment doesn't cut the nerves.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Mild loss of sensation can be expected after Laser treatment due to Neuropraxia. It can cause numbness due to slight involvement of nerves. It doesn't cut the nerve.Nerve should be repaired only when it is cut.
This mild injury gets repaired spontaneously in course of time.
I prescribe tablet containing Alphalipoic acid and Methylcobalamine to my patients with similar complaints.
Nothing to worry. It will come back to normal.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
