What Causes Numbness, Burning And Tingling Sensation In Arm?
Question: I have herniated and bulging disks in the top of my neck, stenosis in the middle, and bone spurs on the bottom of my neck. I have called my doctor for an appointment and have an xray scheduled for tomorrow. I have pain, numbness, burning, tingling, from my lower neck to the tip of my right arm. I am also starting to experience the same on my left arm though that is coming and going and not at bad as the right arm. My symptons started approximately 1 week ago and have been gradually getting worse. My appointment is the 28th of January. I am concerned about what activities I should be doing or not doing. I do not want to make my condition worse and I am expecting the doctor to want to operate on my neck.

Hi,
I am Dr Mittal. I have read your message. I think I can help you.
The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of a possible nerve compression at the spine.
I suspect that the doctor would suggest that you test with a MRI spine if not done already.
I have following suggestions -
1. avoid lifting objects.
2. avoid complete bed rest.
3. take hot fomenting.
4. try to get a prescription for pregabalin and methylcobalamin.
5. don't take physiotherapy till suggested.
I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Hopefully, the surgery may be avoided. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.
