What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Ear?

default
Posted on Wed, 9 Nov 2016
Question: Question- One of our guys at work had a sudden numbness in his ear while sitting at home and caused the ear to go numb and tingly. This expanded into his neck the next day and down his arm into his hand and fingers. It is all on his right side. He seems fine has had cat scan and they say tests came back fine. The issue is now he is loosing control to hold hand up and finger movement is limited, and arm is is totally numb and into shoulder. What could be wrong?

Chest muscle is now numb only on right side? the weird thing is there is no pain at all with any of this. His right side is slowly becoming numb and movement is limited , there also appears to be some swelling in the right hand and fingers.

Brief Answer:
Transverse myelitis, multiple sclerosis to consider.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

I guess the CT scan that resulted fine was a head CT scan, right?

In my opinion, cervical spinal cord conditions such transverse myelitis for example, should be considered.

Multiple sclerosis also is a possible condition that may justify these symptoms.

It is necessary to have a brain and cervical spinal cord MRI, in order to understand better your friend's condition and to achieve a correct diagnosis.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
