Brief Answer:
My reply is below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms and it is unfortunate that you have not had a proper diagnosis and treatment even after 12 years of consulting various doctors.

Based on your symptoms, there are two main possibilities:

1. Fibromyalgia- it is a clinical diagnosis, characterised by generalized aches and pains, tingling, numbness and weakness.

2. Cervical and lumbar disc disease- this can be diagnosed by MRI of cervical and lumbar spine. In this condition, the nerves in the neck and lower back get compressed, leading to similar symptoms as your have.

3. In addition, we need to exclude demyelinating illness such as multiple sclerosis, vitamin B12 deficiency and vasculitis. The last two can be excluded by blood tests.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.

Brief Answer:
Seeing a neurologist would help you.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back and providing more information.

Yes, you should see a neurologist and it would help in diagnosis and planning the treatment.

MRI scan should be done.

COPD is unlikely to produce all your symptoms. A feeling of breathlessness, chest pain, etc may be caused by COPD, however, tingling, numbness and generalised pains can not occur due to that.

Best wishes,
Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)
