Question: Hi Doctor,
I need your opinion.
I had bad habit of masturbating since about 10 years. In initial years I did it almost 3-4 times a day. But I had guilty feeling always and wanted to stop. After 3-4 years I was able to substantially reduce this frequency. Since last couple of years I have reduced it to a large extent to about once a week.

I am not able to stop it completely. Also I have bad side effects like nocturnal emission, sperm leakages etc since over 6 years. This is very embarrasing and frustrating. Sometimes these things irritate me so much that I tend to masturbate because of it. I also have very low ejaculation time (~1-2 mins) and I am usually tired and lazy. Sometimes there is ejaculation without any erection. Sometimes small leakage can happen suddenly at work without any trigger and create lot of embarrasment.

I want to get rid of these and would like your opinion on how I can do that. If there are any freely available medicines then please let me know about them and their dosage as well.

Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have been indulged in masturbation since many years and now facing problems related to sexual activities.

First of all there is myth in a mind of common man that excessive masturbation is the reason of all sexual problems But I would like to state that it has been discussed in scientific forums all over the world and proved scientifically that masturbation does not have any negative effect on any organ or
system in the body.All the problems that you are facing now are mind related and due to anxiety.

Following measure will help you to boost up your confidence and getting good erection.and delay ejaculation.
1) Practice regular exercise for 45 minutes followed by meditation for 1/2 an hour in the morning.
2) Take high protein diet rich in vegetables and fruits and Vitamin A,C,D,E.and Zinc
3)Take anti oxidants like Almonds 5-6 everyday..
4) Avoid alcohol and smoking..

Though it is harmless, excessive and frequent habitual masturbation does affect quality of erection and ejaculation.Please try to reduce the frequency of masturbation by keeping yourself busy in activities like sports,reading ,social work etc so that you will not get free time to masturbate.

Thank You doctor. I have few queries based on your reply. Kindly respond to each of them.

I have been trying to find answers on internet for quite some time. I found that though masturbation does not impact any organ directly, it impacts indirectly by starving, other parts of the body, of minerals and nutrients. Excessive masturbation leads to body preparing more sperms using nutrients and minerals present in the body and thus leaving less nutrients and minerals for other parts. Hence I and many other people face EXACTLY same problem - decreased concentration and mental ability, reduced stamina, weakness in thighs and knees, loss of shine on face, etc. Please let me know your views on this. How can these be reversed? Also, what according to you is good source of Vitamin A,C,E and zinc in XXXXXXX context.

Second, I usually am a very calm person and lead a balanced life (no smoking, drinking etc). It could be true that anxiety is the cause of my problem. But the only reason I am anxious, I think, is because of sperm leakage and nocturnal emission. I am in a vicious circle which I am not able to break. Can you suggest a way of how I can break this vicious circle? Are there any supplements I can take to strengthen penis muscles so that leakage can be avoided completely?

Lastly, I have heard that at some point erectile dysfunction and infertility can occur. Can you tell me at what point it happens? How do I know if I have erectile dysfunction or infertility problems?

I am eagerly waiting for your response to all these 3 problems.

1) What ever you have red on internet is not true and I again emphasize that masturbation does not harm any organ or system in the body .I have no answers for what others say .These are all hypothetical questions and have no scientific basis .
2)Al your problems are mind related and need to consult qualified Psychiatrist to learn how to allay your anxiety.
3 If one has erectile dysfunction he will not be able to perform the sex and deposit semen in to woman;s vagina which is primary fact to result in conception .You can know your fertility status by doing your semen analysis.
