Question: Hi. My daughter has been having bouts of what she calls the 3 hour flu. She is 43. Physically active when she feels good which is most the time. However, this odd flu was occurring every 2 or 3 months. The other day it lasted a full night. She gets nausea, cramps, slight pink vaginal bleeding, and can throw up. She can feel achy and like she has a fever. What is going on do you think?

Brief Answer:
Such symptoms are common in perimenopausal age.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone very carefully through the details provided. The mentioned manifestations seem to be due to perimenopausal symptoms and not really some flu. The symptoms occur due to hormonal deprivation. I would insist you to ask her to visit a gynecologist and to discuss the pros and cons of hormone replacement therapy.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
