Question: I was diagnosed with a small meningioma at the very top of my brain sitting between my brain and skull. I was told its not the cause of my symptoms which are; migraines, nausea, scalp/skull pain and pressure, and basically feeling awful all of the time!! I know they say only 1/25,000 people are symptomatic, but why can't I be that one??

Brief Answer:
No you can't be the one.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr XXXXXX,

I can understand the concern you have regarding the small meningioma you got between skull and brain, and you do have some times nausea, uneasiness, pressure effect, may be vomitting, etc.

The actual size of the tumour is not mentioned, please if you have time do let me know, and how long have you been having this tumour and symptoms.

As you know meningoma is a non cancerous tumour found in meninges of brain, there rate of growth is also very rather extremly slow, and lot of people accidently discover it while doing imaging for other thing.

After going through your history,in my opinion it is not the tumour which you have is creating problem, because actual tumour creates lots of disturbances in the form of nausea, vomitting, loss of consciousness, throbbing headache, weakness in one part of body, falling down accidently, etc.

Since you know a lot about your disease condition so may be you keep on co-relating everything you get in head with it.
Because some where in your head it is always there that you got the disease and if you are experiencing anything in head ,must be due to the tumour.

One important thing I would like to share is that this tumour may cause the pressure effect if it is growing, so please maintain a record of CTscain and see if the tumour is increasing in size or not.

If the tumour meningioma which is non cancerous is increasing in size and creating the above mentioned symptomes so much that it starts hampering your daily activity then it has to be removed, other wise at this point of time I am also in the opinion to live lt alone and keep on doing your daily activity forgeting it.

Hope I am able to clear your doubt, if you still have any query then you are most welcome, please do not hesitate to write back.

Hoping to get the feedback from you and wishing you a healthy and peaceful life.

Regards,

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
No you can't be the one.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr.XXXXXX,

Welcome back happy to see you again.

As you want to know that why you cant be the one to get meningoma and associated symptoms.

So here is the explanation regarding that, in my opinion you are aware that there is one tumour in your brain which was found on imaging,

1. It is a very rare tumour as you know frequency is 1/25000, so rare things are always rare.

2. Meningioma never causes migraine, you have symptom of migraine.

3. If meningioma is present in your brain then it will create lot of disturbances in your body like very intense headache, frequent vomiting, paralysis of one side of body, sudden black out, uncontrolled body movement, abnormal behavior, lack of sleep, depending up on size of tumour and its location in brain,(as you have non of these symptoms)

4. Since you are aware of the tumour that it is there in your brain you start correlating every thing with it may it be little headache or mild pain.
You think that you have got tumour in brain and that is responsible for what so ever you are facing pertaining to your head, like your migraine, intermittent headaches.etc.

5. See lot of people get headache, have migraine, feel heaviness in head at the end of day, vomiting, etc..despite of not having tumour in brain.

6. You are also one of them who gets migraine, intermittent headache, nausea.etc, which is not related to meningioma as per my clinical knowledge, and as per your history it is also not suggestive of meningioma created problem.

Just trust and have faith in your doctor, as I have suggested get serial CT scan brain done and keep record of it to see the progress of tumour whether increasing in size or not and keep on relating with your symptom increasing or decreasing.

If the tumour increases in size it can be easily removed provided it creates lot of disturbances as suggested by me above, meningoma is non cancerous and non fatal.

As per my knowledge right now you are not having any symptom pertaining to brain tumour, so be relaxed and comfortable.

Hope I am able to clear your doubt once again, if you still have any query then you are most welcome, please do not hesitate to write back again.

Hoping to get the feedback from you and wishing you a healthy and peaceful life.

Regards,

Thanks.
