What Causes Muscle Pain In Upper Arms When Diagnosed With Mycosis Fungoides?

Question: My original question was on 4/29 regarding Mycosis Fungoides which I have been diagnosed. Since my first questions I have developed some muscle pain in my upper arms. Can that be part of the disease? I have read some articles and see one that addresses misdiagnosis of Mycosis Fungoides. Could it be a misdiagnosis even with the biopsy being checked twice at the lab since it is such a rare disease? My care is with a Oncologist/Hematology, XXXXXXX Nagourney in Long Beach, CA

Muscle pains are not usually seen in mycosis fungoides. There is no muscle involvement in this disorder. Bone pains can occur if bone marrow is involved but considering your small disease burden, that is unlikely.

Misdiagnosis is common in this rare disorder. That's why second opinion is almost always sought. Checking twice at the same lab may not be full proof, unless the pathologist is an expert in this. Sending the biopsy to an university center with lot of experience in mycosis fungoides is the key.
