Brief Answer:
Liver enlargement requires clinical examination and laboratory tests

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for writing back with an update.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. There are studied based on ultrasound scan evaluation of liver size in children. The maximum liver size in the age group 6 to 8 years male children is 12.3 cm.

2. Therefore if your son is 7 years old and his liver is 14 cms then he has mild liver enlargement.

3. Many causes of mild liver enlargement are there with infections being the most common. These infections can be liver specific like hepatitis or generalized bowel infection like typhoid, which can cause mild liver enlargement in children. Metabolic causes are less likely if this has happened suddenly.

4. Next you have to consult the pediatrician for clinical examination and any specific blood tests to know liver function.

5. Treatment depends on the cause of liver enlargement which can be confirmed by clinical examination and laboratory blood test.

Hope your query is answered.
Please write back if you have any doubts.

Brief Answer:
Request for symptoms and reason for getting ultrasound scan done

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. The medicine bevon syrup is multivitamins and prescribed for vitamin needs. The esomac 20 is to prevent gastritis.

2. It is important to know what are the symptoms your son has and duration and reason for getting ultrasound scan abdomen done. Any history of illness in recent 6 months is important. Any tests are based on clinical suspicion and symptoms.

3. The 12.3 cm liver size is for most XXXXXXX children from statistics collected in the age group 6 to 8 years male children. If your son is well built then a liver size of 14 cm can be acceptable.

Hope your query is answered.
