Brief Answer:
Likely obesity

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. There are many causes that can cause metallic taste in mouth, with your weight of 325 pounds, i bet its obesity causing acid reflux, heat burn and that is causing metallic taste. If you are on any medications that could also cause metallic taste. But gastric discomfort is the likely cause.

I would like you to lose weight, use some garlic water mouth rinse regularly, brush and floss your teeth regularly after every meal, eat small frequent meals, reduce caloric intake and if possible sign up to an FDA approved weight loss program.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

I was taking omniprazol (sp?) 20mg for reflux I think. I would get nauseous when sleeping and throw up a little I'm my mouth. I stopped taking because I heard it was bad for you. Could it be that? should I take it again? I also take lexapro for anxiety

Supportive care and diet lifestyle changes.

As per my suspicions, Yes its definitely the reason of skipping the proton pump inhibitors and the acid reflux is causing the issue. You need to nip the evil from the bud. That is weight. Lose it, eat small frequent meals, avoid triggers, avoid sweets, chocolates, spices, processed & canned foods etc.

I want you to know that you should focus on diet and lifestyle and symptomatically take omeprazole , even 40 mg as 20 is not enough dose for your size.

I hope it helps.

Brief Answer:
More good than bad

Every medication has adverse effects, but you need to use it, its more good than bad for your acid reflux. Best thing for sure is losing weight, achieve that goal and you wont even need omeprazole.

I hope it helps.

Brief Answer:
simplified

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

Acid reflux is the splash of gastric secretions into upper food pipe. Obesity causes it. Omeprazole is an antacid which reduces these acid secretions. Our stomach has HCL in it with average pH of 2. Obesity is the main cause of this acid reflux. Fixing it reduces the acid reflux.

I hope it helps.
