Brief Answer:
Sinus infection vs allergy

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that your friend is having problems with his sinuses. This time of the year there are several causes from sinus problems. Your friend could have a viral infection that has progressed to a sinus infection. This would account for the metallic taste and the constant congestion. If the drainage is green then this would be the most likely diagnosis. If the drainage is clear then it would be a allergy most likely to trees. The best treatment here is OTC flonase. This will reduce the congestion and also help with the metallic taste.

In summary
1. Sinus infection with green draniage needs antibiotics
2. Sinus allergies clear drainage needs Flonase OTC
The dizziness is due to the sinus pressure and Eustachian tube dysfunction. Once the sinuses and the pressure is relieved the dizziness should also resolve.

The numbness of the tongue is not related to the sinus issues. I am not sure why your friend has partial tongue numbness. It is possible he may have a vitamin deficiency. I would recommend that he take a good regular once daily multi-vitamin. See if that helps the tongue numbness
