Lower right abdominal pain is often associated with infection of the large instestine. Sometimes a full colon can also have this type of pain.

For this I would first recommend a ultrasound abdomen first, if that is inconclusive a Contrast enhanced CT scan would be ideal.

Hi, i had an ultrasound, and no ovary cysts were found. Im in a lot of pain, been 6 weeks now. I find it hard to walk and move around, this makes the pain worse, the doctors here arent considering chronic appendicits because they want to focus on acute and i 'definitely dont have that ' apparently, so next they want to check calcium levels - does this sound right to you? I just really need an answer, the pain has been going on too long :( thanks for getting back to me so quickly. What do you think i should ask them to check or test

Hello

Thanks for getting back. If I were to be your doctor I would have investigated you in the following manner

1. Ultrasound abdomen (which you have got done)
2. Contrast enhanced CT scan till the pelvis. To rule out a mass lesion or an infection. Distended colon can also be picked up on a CECT.
3. If the CECT is also normal then I would get a colonoscopy done to see for inflammatory bowel disease.

I would get the following tests done
1. Complete blood count
2. Absolute esoniphil count to rule out worm infestation
3. C-reactive protein to rule out chronic inflammatory state
