What Causes Lower Front Teeth Pain And Bleeding Gums While On Storvas?

Question: hi doctor im XXXX age 48
im using cholesterol tablet storvas 20 mg, now im getting teeth problem, lower front teeth getting pain and some extra gum growing, blood bleeding when im bruising, im not sure this in storvas side effect are not.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that your symptoms of lower front teeth pain, gum growing, bleeding gums which brushing are all due to gum inflammation and swelling..
It might be a side effect of taking Strovas 20mg that contains active ingredient Atrovastatin that is Cholesterol lowering drug..
I would like to know a few more details so that I can guide you better.

1.Since how long you are taking Strovas 20 mg?
2.Did the symptoms started immediately after taking the medicine?
3.Did these problems ever happened before, like him bleeding etc?
4.Any other medicine also do you take or not?

I'm using storvas tablet since two years. And I'm losar H tablet since five years for blood pressure. I dint' concealed doctor after teeth problem. I'm not sure this problem will be tablet side effect.

As per your response, as you are taking Storvas since 2 years and also on Losar H since 5 years, the dental problems that you are facing looks less probably be due to medicine side effect.

It seems more like you have generalized infection in gums leading to Gum inflammation or Gingivitis and the symptoms of pain in lower teeth along with bleeding gums while brushing and extra gum growth or gum swelling..

I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
He can advise you scaling of teeth to remove plaque and tartar and also advise you to take a course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory painkillers..
Gargling with antiseptic mouthwash and massaging the gums with antimicrobial oral paste can help..
You can also do warm saline gargles..

If at all the gum infection is not ruled out you shall be referred to your treating physician to get examined and in case if it is side effect of medicine then either reducing the dose of the medicine or changing the drug to other statins will help..

As of now you can start doing warm saline gargles..
Take Acetaminophen for pain relief..
Massage your gums with an antimicrobial oral paste..
Use a soft toothbrush to brush your teeth gently..
