What Causes Lower Back Pain Despite A Normal X-ray Report?

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Dec 2016
Question: I am having a lot of pain on my right backside from lower back into buttock. I have had xray of my hip which is fine. The pain has grown steadily worse for the last three months. Previously, I was diagnosed with RA, but have not had problems for quite a while. Could this pain be because of RA? It is only on one side.
The pain is at its worst when I am sitting down. If I am standing or walking, it doesn't hurt. Lifting my legs, process of standing up, hurts more.

Brief Answer:
Possible nerve pain

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

The pain you are describing its not from RA because RA never affects the hip joint but rather the small joints (like joints in fingers of the hands) and it is symmetrical.

What I think its most possible to be though its a nerve pain, since it radiates in the nerve route.
What I would recommend its that except the muscle relaxant to take a pain killer like Ibuprofen 400mg every 6 hours.
you may benefit also from physical therapy.

If worse or not better, I would recommend seeing a local doctor.

Hope this is helpful.
