What Causes Lower Back Pain And Stomach Pain With Pressure On Bladder?

default
Posted on Sat, 5 Apr 2014
Question: I have had a ct scan with no dye and a cystoscope to rule out kidney stones. Both were negative and showed no reason why I am having pain. I have a history of frequent UTI's and a couple of kidney stones. I have been experiencing pressure on my bladder which makes my bladder constantly feel full when it is not. They also scanned me after urinating and my bladder was empty. I am having low back pain and stomach pain mainly on the right. 800 mg. Ibuprophen does help. Seems better during the day but worsens at night. I am frustrated something is wrong and I feel something on my bladder! What could it be?

Brief Answer: It could be due to Ureteral Stricture. Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have pain in lower back on Rt side with history of Kidney stones in past. I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem. 1) Is there hydronephrosis on Rt side reported in your CT scan report ? 2) Is it possible to upload report of your CT scan to make precise comments.? In view of previous history of kidney stones your pain on Rt side could be either due to stricture of the ureter which develops due to impaction of the stone for a long time when it passes down into bladder.or due to narrowing of the ureter at PU junction. This can be ruled out only on doing Intra Venous Pyelography (IVP) where entire urinary system is delineated by a contrast XXXXXXX Please discuss this possibility with your Urologist .and get this investigation done under his guidance. Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you Thanks and Regards. Dr.Patil.

I am going to see my general doc. Friday and I will ask him for the results. I am allergic to the XXXXXXX so that is why he did not order it. I was also taking topomax for migraines (just started only on for two weeks) so I couldn't have benedryl(sp?) because that interacts with topomax. I made a personal decision to stop taking topomax once I read that they may cause kidney stones. So I think my urologist will be ordering the IVP soon. He went out of town for a while but I have a great rapport with my general and if I tell him I am still suffering I think he will order it. I will let you know. Just feel like I want a quick fix because this is annoying and affecting my life. I want this to be over. Also, endometriosis runs in my family. My mother and sister had it. I have a sister who suffered from ovarian cysts due to endometriosis and ended up have a full hysterectomy. Could this be a problem for me too? I do have prolonged periods and have been occassionaly anemic. Did an ultrasound in 2012 and nothing was found. My gyno. did put me on birth control pills but I hated the side effects and constantly worried because there is also a history of blood clotting and heart disease in my family on my father's side. He was in his 30's with first heart attack and later passed from congestive heart failure after several strokes.

Brief Answer: Repeat Ultrasound scanning to rule out endometrosi Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for follow up.Get I.V.P done and send me the report. Since you have family history of endometrosis it is advisable to repeat the scan at frequent intervals say every six months. Please do write once you get your I.V.P done Thanks and Regards. Dr.Patil.
