What Causes Lower Back Pain After Taking SI Joint Injection?

Question: I had a si joint injection on Thursday which has really improved my pain and mobility but I have a terrible deep down ache through my lower hips and tops of my legs. walking is not bad but sitting is. its like I have terrible flu aches but only in that area. it is very painful. any idea what it could be? I had the left SI joint done. this is on both sides

It can be due to preservative in injections or nerve irritation

Hello,
I have studied your case. Pain following steroid injection in SI joint is due to two reasons.
1. steroids and preservatives are painful.This pain can last for 2 weeks.
2.Some time when injection is given, there can be irritations of nerves nearby and it can cause pain.
I have following suggestions for you.
1. ice fomentation at injection site.
2. tablet Brufen 400 mg twice daily.
3.Tabet Pregabalin M at night time.

I have one kidney. lost one due to years of hydronephrosis 23 yrs ago. my creatnine is 0.73. is it safe to take some short term ibuprofen?

Hello,
Though there is no harm in taking one or two tablet of Brufen still to be safer side you can take Tramadol or oxycodone. These are safe drugs in single kidney patients.
