What Causes Low Testosterone Levels In A Diabetic?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Jan 2017
Question: Concern is that I might have or close to getting Type 2 Diabetes. 6'0 195 lbs, 56 Years old, and bad diet and workout habits for the last two years along with stress of a divorce. Plan on eating more Greens, Vegatables,
Fruits, beans, seeds and less sugar and alcohol this year..... along with a new workout routine to get my weight down and feel better. Also on anti depression meds. Symptoms are loss of hair on the bottom of my legs, trigger finger on both ring fingers in the last month out of the blue, always tired, etc. Seems like when I look up any of my symptoms, possible Type 2 Diabetes comes up. Waiting on new insurance to go get my blood tested, but a year ago, it was in the Pre-diabetic range, but everything else was good. (on blood pressure med, too and it's doing it's job). Thoughts?
Constant fatigue, also, starting when I started on anti-depressants 3-4 years ago.

Brief Answer:
Low testosterone levels should be excluded.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking on HCM!
I have gone carefully through your concern!
Of course the blood sugar and HbA1c level should be checked, as it was prediabetes last year and you didn't loose weight.
The blood sugar should be to high to cause fatigue and is usually associated with frequent urination, dry mouth, polidipsia ect.
I would recommend to check the testosterone level , it may be a cause of fatigue and hair loss when the levels are lowered.
It will be a pleasure to help you further after the above results.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
