What Causes Low Platelet Count And Ear Infection?

default
Posted on Thu, 27 Aug 2015
Question: Hi Doctor,

I have a platelet count of 101. I had a major surgery 10 months ago and a 1 hr. surgery 2 months ago on my elbow. All of the blood test did not show any issues, until this week, when I had a follow up blood test, as part of physical with my Family Doctor. I was also being treated for an ear infection. Can a slight infection cause the Platelets to become low?

Thank you very much,

Thank you very much!

Brief Answer:
It can be due to some infection. Nothing to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Your platelet count is slightly low. You may have some viral infection. Viral infection is thr most common cause of low platelet count. So no need to worry. It will come back to normal within few days. If you don't have any other symptoms then nothing to worry about platelet count. You should repeat your platelet count after 15 days.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.

Thank you very much Dr. Sanghvi,

That is good news. I do not have any other symptoms.

My last question is that my ABS Lymph Count was 778 and it was low too.

Is there any concern with that result?

Thanks again,
