Question: Hello Doctor,
I had a protected sex with a sex worker that involved Smooch also. But from next day i had low fever, weakness and ulcer in mouth. I went to a hospital and they gave me Ceftin antibiotic with Diclogenac. Fever and ulcers went away but i still feel week, drowsy and have pain in my legs. Also sometimes i get mosquito bite like pimple on my skin anywhere that cause itching. I have cough and Also i get headache(not severe) on lower part of my head ocassionaly.
I had a hiv duo test at 13th day, hiv rna pcr test at 19th day, hiv duo test at 21st day and hiv duo test at 28th day.
All came out to be negative.
I am in alot of stress. Please advice me what to do?

Brief Answer:
No risk of HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Nishchay,

Welcome to HCM.

You had protected sex then there is no need to worry about HIV. Also your HIV duo test at 13th day, 21st day and 28th day is negative along with negative RNA PCR at 19th day then nothing to worry at all because you are absolutely safe and risk free from HIV.

The symptoms are due to other viral infection which will wean off with time as it will take at-least 7-10 days to recover from viral infection so don't get anxious or feared. Follow the physician advice and go for repeat HIV test after 3 months as per routine guidelines.

Thank You

Thanks a lot for your reply doctor.
The reason I am so much worried is that these sympotms are there from last 1 month. Weakness, drowsiness and pain in legs are there from the next day I had sex and are still troubling me.
Also i sometimes feel pain in my armpits, I am not sure what exactly are swollen lymph nodes. So cant say whether it is due to them.
Also the mosquito bite like pimples which come up themself make me worry.
Last one month has been really very much stressfull for me. Dont know what has been happening.
Also I wanted to know if you have seen all 3 reports I have attached?
In RNA PCR test what is Internal Control-CT value?
By any chance doctor should i need to worry about HIV?
And how conclusive are these all tests?
Thanks in advance.

Brief Answer:
It might be due to vitamin deficiency.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Nishchay,

Welcome back and thanks for follow-up.

The symptoms might be due to vitamin deficiency most likely B12 so you can go for blood test to rule out and follow the expert advice for further management.

Internal control value is just for comparison nothing else so don't get bothered for that. HIV Duos test is 90% reliable and conclusive after 28 days so there is nothing to worry as the risk is practically nil. Be relaxed and move ahead in life.

Thank You
