What Causes Low Cholesterol Levels Inspite Of Being On Crestor?

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Mar 2015
Question: I was on 10 mg crestor for a while, my cholesterol lever reads 109. Should I still take the crestor, could I refuse the dosage of it? FYI, I walk about 10 miles a day, and have also a straight diet no gluten ,no fats other than olive oil.
Please advise.

Brief Answer:
Crestor can be replaced by a less stronger statin

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

You have quite low cholesterol level.
I think you can switch your Crestor to a less strong statin, such as Storvas 10 mg (Atorvastatin) and continue healthy lifestyle, unless you have very high cardiovascular risk, such as recent myocardial infarction.

Hope I could help you

Wishing you good health

Brief Answer:
There is a need for less stronger statin

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

If you were my patient I would continue with less stronger statin, (e. g. Atorvastatin 10 mg), especially if there is no high cardiovascular risk.
Also if there is no cardiovascular risk, hereditary hypercholesterolemia and early familial cardiovascular events and deaths, there is no need for taking cholesterol lowering medication.
I would advise you to evaluate your cardiovascular risks and necessity of statin treatment with your doctor.

Wishing you good health
