Hi!

Welcome to health care magic!

I am Dr. Saddiq Ul Abidin. I have read your problem in detail and will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, it is sad to know that you have been facing these problems lately. It would have been more helpful if you had shared any detail of preceeding flu or any history of long term drug usage or any history of head trauma.

The loss of smell and taste can be due to trivial things like flu, common Cold, sinus infection or some drugs or may be due to more advanced caused like chemical injuries, head trauma or nasal polyps.

However majority of these causes are curable. All you need to do is to visit an ENT specialist and get a detailed nasal and oral examination done. You may also be needed to run few tests like CT scan. But rest assured as majority of cases have undergone spontaneous recovery or for curable causes, ENT surgeries have shown some benefits.

Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. kindly rate me before closing, and leave your feedback if possible.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ul abidin.

It isn't the loss of taste and smell, it is a horrible taste and smell. Everything is the same. With my eyes matting, red and burning, I am wondering if you could be an infection. I haven't had head truma. My long term drug use is Wellburtion and high blood pressure medicine!

Brief Answer:
clarification of more details

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Thanks for sharing. Well yes taste change can be due to drugs like wellburtin, bus gastric disturbances and regurgitation can also impart taste changes with foul smells or tastes round the clock. For which you need to use a good mouth wash, an antacid like omeperazole.

And eyes bring can also be entirely different entity or may be part of drug allergies or even part of withdrawal effects.

You need to visit the doctor who prescribed wellburtin and discuss the problems which you are facing lately so that he can come up with some alternative.

I would still suggest you to get an ENT consultation done to rule out other causes relating to nose and mouth.
