What Causes Loose Stools With Blood In It?

Question: this is for my baby girl aged 1 month. she has been passing blood in stool for six days. we had started her on sporidex (cephalexin) 3 times a day. since then the frequency has come down but still baby showing signs of distress and still blood in stool. please advise.

Brief Answer: Antibiotic may have to be changed Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for your query. Loose stools and blood in stools indicate desentery. Cephalexin may not be a right antibiotic for the same. A combination of Ofloxacin and Ornidazole would work better. Please do consult her pediatrician for the same. Also do give her plenty of fluids to maintain her hydration which is very essential. Wish her speedy recovery.

thanks for your prompt response. She has not shown any improvement until now. She weighs 4 kg, could you please suggest the dosages for the antibiotics you mentioned
