Brief Answer:
? Diabetic diarrhea

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic,

I have gone through your fathers history and symptoms and understand your concern. People with diabetes may develop diarrhea for a variety of reasons similar to anyone else.

Diarrhea can be a symptom of autonomic neuropathy, which is a complication of long history of diabetes and this is called as diabetic diarrhea. The diagnosis is usually made after a detailed history and other diagnostic tests revealing no other cause for the diarrhea.

Loose stools may be a side effect of anti diabetic drugs such as metformin and sugar free sweeteners can also cause diarrhea in patients with diabetes.

The treatment for diabetic diarrhea includes anti diarrheal agents such as loperamide and fiber rich diet may decrease the symptoms. Good glucose control is important in controlling the symptoms in case of neuropathies.

The symptoms will improve with these measures if it is not responding , I would suggest you to take your father for an gastroenterologist opinion.
Thank you.
