What Causes Lesion Near Anus With No History Of Anal Sex?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Jun 2014
Question: I have a single agitated red spot/small bump near but not directly on my anus. It is obviously hard to see, but trying to take picture it does look like one spot and red. I do not see any pus or fluid. It is a bit irritated, short of causing pain though, but when walking it is agitated/hurts a bit. When wiping after bowel movement had a very little amount of bright/red blood on paper. Not a lot, but it was there. I am worried about an STD obviously and the internet does not help with that. I do not have any other symptoms; no fever, no problems urinating, etc. How concerned should I be by this?

Brief Answer:
NEED DETAILS ABOUT SEXUAL ACTIVITY AND PICTURES

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.

You had not mentioned about your sexual activity.Kindly send details.

If you could upload the pictures taken by you, then we can make out whether it is an ulcer or a swelling. Other than STDs, an external pile mass also would look like red spot/small bump, with irritation and pain and while wiping blood tinge on tissue could be seen.
Otherwise you can meet your physician he will be able to differentiate the same by just an examination alone whether it is a STD or a surgical problem and he/she will guide you further.

Have always practiced safe sex. One new partner in last 5-6 weeks, had protected oral and vaginal intercourse; condom used at all times.

Very hard to get a picture best I can do is attached

Through another site I got this assessment: "The picture is not very clear but this doesn't look like anything serious from what I can see. I suspect this is just a small irritated hair follicle which is common in this area. Please apply triple antibiotic ointment twice a day for a week. It should settle. If not, do get back."

Brief Answer:
Hair folliculitis or furunculosis are possible

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome BACK.

As you had no history of anal sex, the lesion near your anus is very much unlikely to be STD. Moreover your sexual activity were protected. So there is no chance for STD.

The picture sent by you was not that bad.
It is neither fit with external piles nor any other STD.
It indicates an inflammation of the local area, possible due to a hair folliculitis or a furunculosis.
Anyhow consult a Dermatologist and take the antibiotic applications and if necessary oral antibiotics under his supervision.
