What Causes Knee Pain Upon Movement Post Injury?

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Oct 2016
Question: I was hit by a foul ball at a minor league baseball game on the side of my left knee 3 weeks ago tomorrow. It had hit something else first so i did not get the full impact. I put ice on it right away and it never swelled up much. The black and blue mark took just over 2 weeks to fade away. I had an x-ray the next day which did not show a break. I am not in pain when I walk or climb stairs anymore - I am even back to aerobic walking. But the area is still sensitive to the touch (its actually still painful to touch) and sideways movements (such as dancing) also still cause pain in the knee. Is this still normal recovery time? Or could it be something? Trying to figure out how long to wait before seeing a doctor. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Any ligament injury will heal in 2 more weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The mild pain on touching and on sideways movement can be due to a minor ligament injury. It will gradually heal on its own in next two weeks. It is best to avoid all the painful movements till then and use an elastic knee cap for an extra support to the area.
I hope this answers your query.
