Brief Answer: Kinaesthesia tape with knee support will help Detailed Answer: Hi Thanks for writing I have gone through your brief description and it does not look to be serious injury which occurred during sparring. Just to confirm that it is not a serious injury I would expect answer to following question in follow up query- 1. Any swelling or bruises at knee. 2. Any difficulty in climbing up/down the stairs. The pain on bending the leg could be a meniscus or ligament injury. To rule out the meniscus ( soft tissue washers in knee) injury you may do a simple test in this you have to sit down from standing position with foot in outward direction (first time) and in inward direction (second time). If you may then largely the meniscus are healthy. For now my advice would be –take a few day break from martial art, wear elastic knee support, do Ice fomentation ,take Ibuprofen and trysin/chymotrypsin to reduce pain and swelling along with vitamin C to promote soft tissue healing. If possible get tapping done by kinaesthesia tape. It usually takes 2-3 weeks for ligament injury to heal. Looking forward to your reply Take care and I shall be glad to answer any further query Regards Dr.chugh, Orthopaedic surgeon

Brief Answer: Give sufficient time for ligament to heal Detailed Answer: Hi It’s good to see you After going through your reply, you may follow the advice as given earlier. But do not rush and give time to tissue injury to heal. Avoid squatting and cross leg posture. You may take physiotherapist help for early recovery. Hope this information suffices. Take care and I shall be glad to answer any further query. Regards Dr.chugh
