Brief Answer:
"insect bite hypersensitivity"; No viral infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello young lady,

Thanks for your swift follow up and sending the important informations as well pictures.

Though the pictures are not very clear enough but sufficient enough to rule out the important causes of the condition.

After analyzing the picture and correlating with your history I can make out that the condition is simple "insect bite hypersensitivity". I can not make out any viral infection in the same.

I wanted to rule out an important viral condition known as "herpes zoster" or commonly known as "shingles" but because of single lesion and no further blistering it do not match with the same.

SO the only condition remains is of insect bite hypersensitivity. Many times we see your kind of cases where due to hyper-allergic process you may feel more pain. If it is in working hand then due more use of the same area can cause higher pain.

Do let me know the exact diagnosis of the treating doctor and the accordingly the medications prescribed.

Though the area is not secondarily infected but it is better to take a antibiotic by mouth to present the same.

In my patients I also prefer to give a pain killer two tiles a day. I prefer to give paracetamol (Ultracet) for two time after meals.

I also suggest you to use the hand on least of side. Keep your hand above your heart level which will reduce the pain severity as well as inflammation.

You will be alright in few days.

My all best wishes for your earliest recovery.

I hope these informations will relax you. I will be glad to answer any further queries.
