What Causes Itchy Sensitive Bumps Between Vaginal Opening And Anus?

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Jul 2014
Question: I have little bumps that are very sensitive and itchy on the outer skin between vaginal opening and anus (towards my right thigh almost where buttocks begins). I had an exam last week due to vaginal itching, discharge, and burn while urinating. I was given Metronidazole 500mg and have been taking for 4 days now. At the time of exam, I didn't have any bumps or sores. They developed a day or two after. The itching and burning while urinating have gone away. I have also been biking a lot but since have stopped because they hurt.

Brief Answer:
Could be folliuclitis!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear of these symptoms that you have reported. This information is suggestive of a possible superficial skin infection. With biking, there is maceration and increased heart generation and humidity that favor the onset of superficial skin infections. This is most commonly in the form of folliculitis. However, if there are any areas of discoloration or a well defined rash, then we should suspect a possible fungal super infection.

For now, cleanse this area twice a day with an antiseptic solution like betadine. Try as much as possible to keep it dry, airy and clean. This will prevent any further aggravation of bumps and hasten healing.

Should this not help with 4-5days, please seek medical consultation for examination and management as it may be something else. also, you can send an image for more elaborate interpretation.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Hi and thanks for the image.

It looks like a superficial bacterial infection. For now, the above measures should be able to help control this. If this fails within 5days or the wounds get bigger and drain, then we ay need antibiotics for this. This would require that you talk to your prescribing doctor about this.

For now, let's apply the above measures, monitor and evaluate treatment and make the necessary adjustments if need be.

I wish you well. Feel free to keep the discussion going.
