What Causes Itchy Rashes On Upper Thigh, forearms And Neck?

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Jul 2014
Question: I have
2 patches like hives or rashes on the upper part of my right thigh and after that I got rashes or hives on my legs, thighs, forearms, neck, chest and...

They are itchy and red and spreading.
The patches started when part of my toilet seat cover lost the top layer and the metal underneath was exposed and it was somewhat rough and when I used the toilet my right thigh contacted it frequently. At first, it looked like an acne, then it developed into a patch and was very itchy and I itched the area around it and a second patch developed. Gradually, I started having itchy zits or pimples (hives or rashes or...) almost all over my body.

Brief Answer:
It needs early medical attention

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,welcome to HealthcareMagic forum.
I am Dr Aslam here to help you.

You are having allergic reaction to some insult. The reaction is progressive, and so needs immediate treatment with parenteral antihistamines and steroids. After controlling the acute reaction, this can be manged with oral antihistamines/steroids for a few days.
Otherwise,if treatment is delayed, this can progress to severe systemic reaction demanding admission to intensive care.
Kindly reach the emergency department as early as possible.Meanwhile,if available, you can take single tablet of 20mg prednisolone and 25mg pheniramine maleate for temporary relief.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have further questions,I will be happy to help.
Wishing a faster cure,Thank you.

thanks for your response. I just checked my e-mail and there was no answer from you so I just took over the counter Benadryl until I see a doctor. Today, I checked MY Dashboard and saw your answer. I forgot to mention on my first message that the big ones ( the patches ) bleed and discharge yellow thick liquid.

That is fine.

Detailed Answer:
That is fine.

I am glad you received detailed medical attention.

As long as those weeping lesions are getting better, I will not be worried. Please keep the affected area as clean and dry as possible until you see a doctor. Hope you are on way to recovery.

Wishing you good health always. Thank you.

Thanks for your response, again.
The effected area gets wet sometimes. Should I avoid water contact in that area?
I am not sure if the patches, that are discharging liquid, are getting any better.
How should I clean them properly to avoid getting worse?
I plan to sleep and wake up and go to the emergency section of the nearby hospital and see a doctor since doctors that have private practice did not have an early opening for me and they were all booked.

Thanks!

Brief Answer:
see detailed answer below

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
You can clean the area with clean water once a day,but frequent wetting should be avoided. Also avoid excessive sweating and soiling. After mopping the site with clean cotton/tissue, apply some antibiotic cream/powder locally twice daily. This will prevent any secondary infection.I usually give mupirocin, neomycin or povidon iodine to my patients.
If there is no surrounding edema, and the discharge is not yellow/blood stained/fowl smelling, surely you are getting better.
Excessive oozing can be controlled by antihistamines.
After assessing the extend of lesions by a direct inspection, your doctor can guide you better.
Hope your doubt is cleared. If you have no further questions, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Thank you.
