What Causes Itching And Lightheadedness While On Biotin?
Antihistamines to help with allergy symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking at HealthcareMagic.
I carefully read your question and understand your concern.
Biotin is a B vitamin and one of the side effects of vitamins B is hypersensitivity to the drug. So patients that use them for a while might develop allergic reaction to them.
Symptoms from allergies developed from things taken orally might be there for a day or two but might go up to 1 week and rarely extend to the second week.
Meanwhile you can take some antihistamines to help with the symptoms like Cetirizine and benadryl (the last one might cause some drowsiness so you have to be watchful and not have activities that need you to be fully alert like driving, swimming, etc.
If symptoms are not better or worsen you will need to see your doctor, other medications for allergy can be given also but are not over the counter and are best given after a visit.
Make sure when you eat eggs that they are hard boiled so to prevent not absorbing Vit B7 in your system which is Biotin.
I hope this is helpful and answers to your question but please feel free to ask if anymore clarifications are needed on this.
Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, MD
