What Causes Irritation And Itchiness In My Vagina After Bubble Bath?

default
Posted on Fri, 27 Mar 2015
Question: Hello. I am about to be 39 weeks pregnant and about two days ago I took the first bubble bath that I have had in years just to relax my body and help with the pregnancy. Now I am experiencing irritation and itchiness in my vagina. Mostly on the inside of my left lip and at the opening of my vagina. It does not burn when I urinate, there is no oder or discharge. I would say that I am more dry now than I have been in the past. Not sure what is going on or how to fix this problem or if I need to go see my OBGYN.

Brief Answer:
Wait for 2 days

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns about itching, irritation and dryness.

Following is my reply:

1. Itching, irritation and dryness are due to some allergen that you have been exposed to while taking bubble bath. It is difficult to say which allergen caused this.

2. I would suggest you wait without doing anything and this will get corrected in 2 days.

3. Mean while you can apply body lotion or coconut oil to the itching outside on the skin ( not inside vagina).

4. If this does not reduce in 2 days, see your OBGYN.

I hope your doubt is clarified. Let me know if you wish any other information.

Regards,
Dr. Mahesh Koregol
