Brief Answer:
Fungal infection; yes it can recur; wait for 7 days

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query in healthcaremagic.com
This is Dr. Swarnava dattagupta answering your query.

I understand your concern.
Let me answer your questions one by one and in reverse order.
1. You were suffering from fungal infection of the penis head or glans, one type of balanitis of fungal origin. Probably it was because of candida infection which can occur due to poor hygiene and exposure leading to sexually transmitted infection as it is in most cases. However, there are other modes of infection too.
2. Yes fungal infection can recur unless it is completely treated, or poor maintenance of genital hygiene and unprotected sex leading to transmission of infection. Also, abstinence from sexual intercourse has to be maintained for about 10 days.
But, the good part is, if proper restrictions are taken, it is rare to recur and it can be easily treated too.
3. Yes you can masturbate after treatment completion, but you should avoid sexual contact for 7-10 days following complete cure i.e. completion of treatment.

Hope i have answered your question.
If you have any further questions i will be happy to help.
Regards.

What sti can this be as we have tested for all stds during and its all negative? Is it a std or sti not in the check list?

Did you mean to say that i had contracted this fungus alone sexually? and it became so much because of hsing soap which i had never used in my life.

Sorry I just understood your response but as per some websites if there are other symptoms such as pain while urination or inflamation of the urthral tube it is considered to be sexually transmitter or else it remains a bacterial infection with other modes of transmission. Please confirm.

Brief Answer:
chances of infection aggravated

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Yes there had been some misinterpretation of the information previously shared. There had been mistake from my side also as I should have explained it more properly. Sorry for that.
What I meant to say is that the chances of candida infection increases on having a poor genital hygiene or unprotected sexual contact with someone having a genital infection. Candida remain in some amount commonly in human genitals, they just increase in number and infectivity in such cases and thus cause the disease.

Hope the explanation helps.
Regards.

All good thanks Doc. I am being careful about the hygiene part.

But when you say a genital infection my question is has candida come because of other genital infection or because the person had this particular infection and so it came if at all.

Brief Answer:
it happens due to disturbance of normal balance of microbial flora

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
Yes, this kind of fungal infection occurs when there is loss of balance in microbial flora in the genital region-
Might be due to-
Poor hygiene.
Recent broad spectrum antibiotics use.
Sexual contact with a similar candida infected person leading to flaring up of the residing microbial flora.
Immunocompromised states like HIV affected person or person undergoing chemotherapy etc.

Hence, it is mostly because of contact with a person having already being infected with similar fungal infection leading to flaring up of infection.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
