Brief Answer:
Get Investigated.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
There are two possibilities:
1. Bleeding due to coagulation issues as can caused by the medicines you have been taking.
2. Urinary Tract infection associated with Kidney stones.
The second one the most probable diagnosis as you had the pain in back that can occur as a result of the stones.
In my opinion you should get following investigations done :
1. PT/INR
2. Ultrasound Abdomen
3. Urine examination.
This would tell the cause behind the bleeding in urine that you had. If infection is found you would be started on antibiotics for the same.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.

Of course, I will call my doctor TOMORROW AM.
Does this sound like kidney cancer?
Or another kind of cancer?
The sharp pain is gone, but I have taken Tylenol.
It is a dull pain now.
Your diagnosis sounds pretty hopeful - don't be
afraid to answer honestly.

Brief Answer:
Can't comment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi. I really can't comment as far as possibility of Kidney cancer is concerned.
Most common causes of blood in urine with pain in back are Urinary Tract infection and Kidney stones.
In the case scenario you have described no one would directly suspect cancer. Everyone would keep Urinary Tract infection as the first possibility.
Howevet unluckily if any cancer is there it would be suspected in Ultrasound Abdomen.
I hope it helps.
If you have any further query, please ask me.

Thank you Dr. Varshney.
I called my urologist, and he advised the same.
I will go in tomorrow morning.
a couple of further questions: is the pain likely to
occur again until this is cleared up?
If this is kidney stones, how is it cleared up?

Brief Answer:
Would be able to answer after reports.

Detailed Answer:
Hi. Yes pain can occur again. You may ask your urologist that I have suggested tablet Drotaverine for pain relief.
Drink plenty if water.
As far as the treatment of Kidney stones are concerned, it would be based on the size and the site of the stone.
Write back to me with the reports.
You can anytime reach my profile and ask me a query there.
Take care.
