What Causes Intermittent Heaviness And Tingling In Left Hand With Frequent Urination?

Question: Recently I've experienced a host of neurological symptoms for the past six months. It all started with tingling in my left hand which came and went. This was followed by weird sensation in the feet. Not necessarily numbness but feeling as if the feet were falling asleep. I then noticed that I was starting to feel slightly dizzy. Not vertigo. But I had a heavy feeling in my head and I felt slightly slightly off-balance. I found that it was worse when I was indoorsand felt better when I was outside walking. It's sensation would come for a week and then leave. And then would come back for another week and leave. I then felt as though my whole body was on edge, as if at any moment my limbs would jerk at random. The only time my limb has actualky jerked was when i was falling asleep. This has been happening more frequently recently. Ive also felt a weird sensation in my left arm ( not numbness. I've also experienced a hand tremor that comes and goes. And over the last couple of days I've experienced frequent urination without drinking much. What might cause this?

Brief Answer:
No worries. Look benign. Symptomatic care

Detailed Answer:
Thank youf or asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Heaviness and tingling in extremities on and off at age as young as 25 with no other neurological illness history is likely a nutritional neuropathy or a bad posture related vascular compressions like prolonged sitting, prolonged lying on one side etc.

Dizziness on and off with feeling better on outdoor activities make it benign issue and self resolving. Anxiety and stress may also present this way and may explain all of your symptoms.

As far as tremors are concerned seek a doctor and let them run some labs to rule out any underlying pathology or hormonal imbalance behind it but i am sure anxiety / neurosis can give pretty much the same picture . But do get evaluated and let them sort out all the possibilities. A complete baseline work up and routine investigations are advised.

Regarding frequency of urination despite drinking not much need a urine routine exam as that might indicate a urinary tract infection and will likely need antibiotics once urine exam favours it. Good toilet and coital habits and adequate diet and intake of garlic and fluids with clean hair free groin will help the symptoms.

I would recommend use of vitamin B 12 and folates with iron supplements and some low dose xanax for the relief of symptoms.

Nutshell, your symptoms are benign and secondary to likely anxiety neurosis and should be correlated clinically after running some labs. Talk to your internist and let them decide what is best for you.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

What do you mean when you say that multiple sclerosis is overrated? Isnt an overactive bladder accompanied by neurological symptoms a common presentation of ms?

Answered by Dr. Shafi Ullah Khan (7 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Not every paresthesia and overactive bladder is MS

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

What I want to say is that people worry about its prevalence more than it actually is. Not every neuropathy and tingling is paresthesia. MS has a wide array of manifestation from sensory motor to coordination and visual involvements and it does not subside in a week. It's relapse and remittance is different than yours.

If you still feel worries it's MS you may request your doctor to rule some labs like MR scans , evoked potentials and csf analysis to rule out its possibility which is very unlikely.

I hope it helps.
