What Causes Instep Pain And Bruising?
Question: My daughter's has been complaining about the tops of her feet hurting for several days. She is not in a lot of pain, but one of them is now showing bruising. The unusual thing is that when she flexes her foot with my hand on it, I can feel something like bone scraping against bone. My foot does not do this. Is it possible that it is broken?

The feeling of bone scraping on bone can be due to a bone fracture caused by stress even if there is no history of trauma in the area. Do get it examined by an orthopedician and get an X-ray done to confirm. Do a cold compress in the area and avoid bearing weight on the foot till then.
