Brief Answer:
Sleeping pills gradually develop tolerance.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I hope that you meant Stage 5 CKD (chronic kidney disease). If that is the case, your body has problem in metabolizing medicines and your doctor can help you regulate the doses. On the other hand, sleep medicines are known to grow tolerance i.e. the dose that is effective now would not be effective later and a higher dose would be required subsequently. If there is a medicine that is helping you at present, use it, but use it judiciously. Subsequently you can move to an alternative and even later, you can shift back to the previous medication.

You can try other simple alternatives like not taking stimulants like coffee before bed, playing a light music while you fall asleep, keeping the surroundings calm and not watching TV before you go to bed.

Let me know if I could offer you any specific guidance.

Regards
