Brief Answer:
This is no joke, please report it at the earliest

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like to assure you that I am here to help. Well first of all, this level is very unhealthy and can do some serious target-organ damage while it remains to be elevated. We need to first concentrate on bringing this level down at the earliest. So please take him to his treating doctor.

As for the causes that could be influencing his levels despite a good dose of insulin, they are:

+Stress
+Infection
+Alcohol
+Medication interactions
+Insufficient sleep
+Badly times insulin dose
+Smoking
+Insulin expired
+Allergies
+Inaccurate reading by device
+Diet
+Complications with infusion device
and a few others.

Please do not take this lightly, and report it to his doctor at the earliest. You may solely be responsible for the extra years this act may result in. I hope you find my response helpful ma'am. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.

HIS parents have taken classes and they say if not sick or no keytones to not call the help desk, but I disagree I want them to call no matter what the classes say, the diabetic professionals seem to take it lightly which is Saint XXXXXXX Children Hospital, I am worried for him, I didn't take the classes but I know 300 hundred readings for 2 days is not good.
So your advice is call the help desk as they call it or follow instructions of not being ill or keytones they say do not call, parents think it might be a weight gain needing more insulin but still say call
thank you

Brief Answer:
Please do report it and get him the help he needs

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

Irrespective of what the classes say, I strongly recommend a call to the help desk or at least rushing him to a doctor or medical staff. I have seen numerous cases of poorly managed diabetic patients who have experienced serious outcomes due to the negligence.

I do not wish this for a young male who hopefully has a long and healthy life ahead without any target-organ damage. I want you to try all you can within your limitations to make sure this child gets the medical attention he deserves, in the end he will live a healthier life thanks to you, or you would at least know you did all you could.

Best of luck ma'am.

SO YOUR ADVICE is call the help desk as they call it no matter the training even if no keytones or he is not sick? His parents thinks he has gained weight and his insulin needs to be adjusted but a doctor would only know that. I am going to forward this to them and see if it helps.

Brief Answer:
Yes call the help desk regardless of absent symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hi ma'am.

Yes, my advice is to call the help desk regardless of what the classes say or have taught; and although he is not displaying and symptoms. Weight gain can be an issue and a lower insulin dose could be the cause, but only if the same dose was previously insufficient. If the same does was previously sufficient and is not anymore (despite a change in weight), this itself is grounds for contacting his doctor immediately to change the dose to match the current requirements.

Yes, please do forward it to whosoever needs to see this. I am always here to help. The damage that uncontrolled blood glucose levels can cause is mostly irreversible, and target-organs include the eyes, heart, blood vessels, kidneys, etc. As you see, these are all major organs and should not suffer any damage due to negligence.

Best wishes.
