default
Posted on Wed, 20 May 2015
Question: why must I constantly have to urinate . . . .I keep wetting my diaper pad . . . am 75 years old and this has never been such problem to my night an daytime living!
Also I continue to have little control over the emptying of feces in the diaper which is truly a nuisance. At the same time I am suffering from nausea and stomach distress. Any information that you can send me will be most helpful! Truly yours, XXXXXXX Schwenk

Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have incontinence of urine and feces .

1) Do you have symptoms like increased frequency ,urgency, poor urine stream etc since a long time suggesting of Enlarged Prostate which is common at this age?
2) Have you ever been investigated for Enlarged prostate?

Based on your symptoms I would state that you have Chronic Retention of Urine with overflow what is called as Retention with overflow .

Please constult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1)Routine urine and urine culture.
2) Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen and pelvis with specific mention of post void residual urine .
3) Uroflowmetry.

Further treatment will be decided by concerned Urologist depending upon the clinical findings ,results of these tests and final diagnosis.

Incontinence of feces that you have is due to simultaneous contraction of the rectum due to same nerve innervation .
