Brief Answer:
Check urine for ketones, or take him to ER now.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,

While his blood sugar is high, that in itself does not necessarily cause the other symptoms. However, he may be having ketones in his blood, which may be causing the vomiting and other symptoms. It is usually something that happens with Type I diabetes, but it is possible with Type II. If you do not have special strips to check his urine for ketones, I recommend you take him in to the ER where he can be evaluated for this promptly.

I invite you to let me know how he is doing after he is evaluated.
